The first album of La Máquina Cinemática, created by Exequiel Mantega, is a conceptual, poetic, and profound work that uses instrumental music to express what words cannot. The orchestration of the album is remarkable, especially in the opening tracks that establish a unique atmosphere that persists throughout the listening experience. Although quartet or quintet formations predominate, the imprint of a large group of instruments remains present, reflecting Mantega's ability to merge gestures from popular music, jazz, rock, and tango with more academic symphonic elements. The quality of the personnel collaborating on the album, such as Ramiro Gallo on violin, Gustavo Hunt and Martín Pantyrer on clarinet, contributes to the faithful and emotional execution of Mantega's music. Although the music is composed and performed with precision and emotion, the album feels closer to the cinematic language than to traditional classical music, suggesting an auditory experience similar to watching a film without images, only with sound. The title of the album, "Música para pantallas vacías" (Music for empty screens), fits perfectly with the suggested experience of listening to the work as a whole without focusing on the names of each track. The music flows like a continuous narrative that invites being listened to in its entirety, akin to watching a fragmented film. The work is best enjoyed when listened to in full and under the best possible audio conditions.
