Seba Ibarra, from Chaco, whom we pleasantly discovered in 2007 with "Collage de río," his first album, with a particular and genuine beauty, now presents a new work, always with the song as the center of expansion. And we say this because the compositions of "Palimay" are all initially from Ibarra, the first seed of each song with its rich poetry, lovely melodies, and turns, emerging with his clear litoral imprint from the voice and guitar of the author, from the rhythmic interior of his Chaco to be shared. Then, he himself hands them over and lets them germinate in the hands of his creative partner Esteban Peón (a Chaco producer with whom he already worked on the previous album, and percussionist of his group), and with the contribution of the other musicians involved in his bands; he has a band in Resistencia where he resides and another in Buenos Aires. However, the songs continue to grow and take various influences, such as rock, chamamé, Brazilian forró, pop, and his particular touch of double strumming. Everything acquires a very current, very fresh tint; it is a good amalgam of that sort of urban folklore with mainly acoustic sound, which also uses electric guitar, loops, and certain digital details. So we return to the songs, which are so concrete and beautiful that they remain intact amidst all that sound flow that gives them a very appropriate framework. In "Palimay," nothing is left to chance, there is a very conscious work on how to build a new sustainable world on each image, each verse (for example, in "Macadam"), but without falling into overproduction. And there is also the intention to reach the listener clearly, to be close, without overwhelming him (the "Tereré"), while not wanting to be too complacent. Ibarra's voice is heard at the forefront, singing in his sweet register, or standing firm in the most energetic moments of the album. Saying texts with a lot of character; nothing is lightweight in the avatar of "Palimay" (a fantasy character: half man, half fish); the entire narrative is a metaphorical plot that the singer unfolds in the order that the album progresses.
