Gabriel Sivak is a young Uruguayan pianist based in Paris who comes from the tango tradition, although as a composer he occupies a delightfully ambiguous place, which is an intersection between classical music, tango, and experimentation, close, if you will, to works like Gerardo Gandini's Postangos, Adrian Iaies, or Diego Schissi. In this case, the crossing between European formal writing and the Río de la Plata pulse of tango is clearer, although without referring to the omnipresent Piazzolla, which is a great merit that few can claim. He creates a suggestive and floating sound environment that transports us as if by magic to another plane of what tango could be.
