Fernando Lernoud and Patricio Sullivan form an ambitious and unique duo: piano and charango (in reality, Sullivan alternates the charango with the ronroco, a variant of this and the guitar). It must be said that they get along very well, despite the differences in timbre, sonority, and tuning that could separate them. With good taste in the arrangements and compositions, since they alternate pieces by Cuchi Leguizamón, Juan Falú, or Ástor Piazzolla with their own works, giving space for both instruments to sing or accompany depending on the moment, they take us through almost all of Argentine folklore. There is huayno, cueca, huella, tango, milonga, chacarera, tonada, bailecito, gato, and zamba; almost a compendium of the southern continent. If someone were told that a duo of piano and charango plays "Nunca tuvo novio" before listening to this fine album, they would be skeptical... But no, don't worry, because surprisingly the duo challenges the "established order" and dares with that and other challenges. Working very well the tessituras of the instruments and without seeking to fill every moment with notes, they take us through Argentine popular music with their own language and personality. It is important to highlight that their original compositions are of superlative quality and have nothing to envy to the illustrious names that accompany them on the tracklist. And that is no small feat!
