21st Century Music. There’s so much talk about new sounds and the strange mixes that arise in this era where we experience an overdose of information, flooded with sounds and diverse influences... Here we have the album of a group that collects obsessions and unprejudiced ideas, free from timbral limitations. The starting point is guitarist Gabriel Daniele, who also plays the cavaquinho and trumpet, bassist and double bassist Juan Fracchi with a clean sound and phrasing (finally, a well-recorded double bass!), and drummer Carlos Fernández, who also contributes samplers and loops.
The guest musicians are also important, especially the wind players, with Líber Galloso on tenor and soprano saxophones on half the album. The group’s quirky sense of humor stands out, making it one of those pleasant surprises that give the Club del Disco its raison d’être. These are musicians unknown to the wider audience, sharing their fresh, new music with us.
Twenty years ago, this album might have been categorized as “jazz rock,” another genre erased by the passage of time and the fall of labels. Throughout the work, there’s an equal measure of rock attitude, jazz touches, funk and blues sounds, popular rhythms, and a desire to make music beyond any format. In fact, they released the album themselves without any intermediaries.
