Fortunately, there has been a surge in the number of tango guitar duos, trios, and quartets in recent years. These groups explore a wide range of possibilities: some recreate the repertoire of the Old Guard; others are rooted in Gardel's tango canción; some lean more towards milonga; there are innovators, and a diverse array of other styles. Many of these groups record their albums, promote them, and tour the tango scene across the country. This album, as subtly defined by its name, is a work of art right from the recording of the three guitars.
The arrangements are crafted with a deep love for harmony, and the melodic lines are delicately intricate. One of the album's virtues is how it integrates sung tangos (featuring guests like Liliana Herrero and José Ángel Trelles) seamlessly with instrumental tracks, maintaining a cohesive concept throughout. Most of the arrangements are by Armando de la Vega, who reimagines tangos from the entire 20th century, including well-known pieces and hidden gems like "Marioneta" and "A San Telmo." The sensitive originality in the interpretations of classics like "Malena," "A fuego lento," and "Golondrinas" is particularly appreciated, as these tracks are always risky due to their widespread recognition.
