The first thing you hear from Carmen's lips is: "I would kill you if I could, coldly." And then comes a sharp but seductive guitar, caressed by Wenchi Lazo's fingers. This instrument plays a fundamental and permanent role throughout the album. The alliance between Baliero's relentless poetry and the group's sweet arrangements, shaped by the guitar's timbre, defines Te mataría. It is a work of art where what is said (and how it is said) is as important as what is played or sung. In this sense, the guitar is crucial, at times seeming to speak, adding a very original color. After listening to the entire album, it's impossible not to remember Lazo's guitar. For those who have heard Carmen's previous albums, this is a deepening of Dame más. Here, the bolero is the master and lord, reigning almost without percussion, from the heartbeat of the double bass, the harmony of the piano, and the "meows" - Carmen dixit - of the electric guitar and cornet. The arrangements are more stripped-down, and it is a work that is very much conceived from the sound perspective.
