Urgente Quartet presents a very particular jazz album that, departing from the genre's norms, unfolds a relaxed and immensely expressive sound: the sound of a jazz band with a rock spirit, where group energy prevails over virtuosity, combining elements of contemporary music and popular structures. Clea Torales, an Argentine saxophonist and flutist based in France, leads this original sonic project that combines various influences to create an album characterized by great dynamism, no solemnity, and a lot of creative excitement. Composed of highly diverse yet traditionally integrated elements, URGENTE's sound combines multiple influences, from John Coltrane's free jazz to echoes of Lester Bowie and his Liberation Orchestra. Indeed, URGENTE bears no resemblance to a traditional jazz quartet. Its melodies are simple and friendly; far from the traditional jazz structure that alternates between theme and solo, here we find catchy songs that stick in the memory after just a few listens.
