"Postal" is La Colmena's first collective original composition, following an extensive career working on the Latin American songbook. It emerges from an expressive game, a playful exchange of words and feelings amid the confinement and uncertainty generated by the pandemic. The words that resonated in each virtual encounter turned into verses, shaping this song in the rhythm of Bolivian caporal.
In this new preview of their second album and to inaugurate this new group experience, La Colmena is delighted to invite two inspiring women musicians: Noelia Recalde, a leading figure in this new generation of composers, contributing her powerful voice and profound expression; and Nuria Martinez, a recognized flutist with a vast trajectory in the Andean music universe, intertwining quenas, sikus, and tarkas within this tapestry of voices.
"Postal" reflects the longing for face-to-face encounters, hugs, laughter, the sense of community, and what it means to lose those treasures of life overnight. But it also highlights the need to transform and reinvent oneself to continue building collectively and moving forward.
