This project blends elements of jazz such as harmony and improvisation with rhythmic elements from other genres like funk, gospel, and blues, all rooted in Afro-American traditions, with improvisation as a common factor. The melodies are led by the tenor saxophone and the electric guitar, which also plays a melodic role alongside its harmonic function. The characteristic voice of this quintet emerges from the timbral fusion of both instruments, with rhythmic and harmonic support from the piano, double bass, and drums. The compositions aim to establish a unique musical identity, drawing inspiration from the great jazz masters who encourage and drive them to explore this genre, uniting different perspectives while allowing space for personal expression. Elements such as functional and modal harmony, irregular time signatures, broad melodic range, and independence of lines are present in the compositions, seeking to develop them and bring them to a modern aesthetic and sound.
